Isn’t it time now for the Electric Car ?
January 23rd, 2009 | by admin |Gerry S asked:
If I were president today, a lot of things would not be happening that are causing Americans so much grief today.
One is the allowing of oil subsidies and record petroleum profits while Americans head toward $4.00 per gallon at the pump.
One thing we could do is federalize the oil companies and mandate pricing . This would require the declaration of a national emergency and a president who isn’t a whore for the oil companies.
Another thing is to invest tax dollars into projects like high-speed rail and the electric car. We could keep all the jobs in the U.S., from steel to production, creating thousands of new jobs.
Technology investment could create cars that could go 500 miles or more on a single charge, plus ‘charge stations ‘ along the highway and/or portable chargers.
Think of it : New jobs, eco-friendly travel, no more foreign reliance or stupid excuses for war, no more being abused at the pump.

You obviously have no sense of economics. BTW, federalizing oil companies is called communism. Also if everybody drove electric cars, you would have to deal with the extra demand by the mostly oil fired power generating plants in the US. Your plan is idiotic.

Iam not usually that hung up on this but i was watching the news where air travel could ceace to exist if oil prices keep geting higher. I also saw them talking about a ethanal suger cane fuel mixture somthing like that, and a man had a plane running on it. if the government would just step out of the way we would be on our way to lowering oil prices

Of course the electricty for charging cars will just appear from nowhere and won’t involve having to build more and more power stations to pollute the atmosphere, or do you really believe that windmills and solar panels can produce that sort of power?

Im voting for you
… Well… I guess it is not that easy to stop petroleum production in the world because it is the heart of world economy in some ways. But yeah… Ive thought what you said and looked at hybird cars and theyre so cool. Specially the Honda hybird car.

No,the best choice for the future will be the hidrogen cell fuel….this is the only alternative that offer power, economy, durability and 0 releases of CO and CO2,also it can be produced artificially. Then, no more stupid arabians of the OPEP controlling the prices…

As it said Need Is The mother of all inventions The reasons that would drive as away from oil cars would be mostly economic reasons ,not because global warming or to save the earth .
Now is the time of electric cars to rise ,and solar energy to rise it the hardest test for our technolgy to keep up even with the decreasing oil supply
