backpacking Around The World?

April 9th, 2009 | by admin |
Lizzie C asked:

Can anybody point me in the direction of an independent backpacking company (pref. with a good website i can visit), that has some eco-awareness.

i’m looking to travel around the world, and i dont have the biggest budget! i want to do it simply, but have an amazing time.

Generally i would like a website that allows you to ‘plan’ your trip without subscription. I want to go mainly to Africa, The states, Oz, NZ, and some of europe. (I live in england.)

Thank you!

The Traveller’s Lounge is a good place to start as it has lots of resources for backpackers, including planning your trip and RTW flights: You could also check out the Lonely Planet forums?

Depending where you go in Africa you would be best travelling on an overland tour such as with Kumuka, GAP, Imaginative Traveller or Dragoman for example. If you’re just in the South you could hire a car. Responsible Travel is a company that searches reputable tou companies.

google “walking tours” and then go from there. I’d get some experienced input before heading across Africa or any place else!
