I have two problems booking online:
1) Most of the promotional codes I have used have failed. Is there anything, even something as low as 10% off I can use?
2) I often run into problems with confirming trains, with the webpage stating “the use of the back or forward buttons on the browser…” even though I did no such thing. This happens all the time when trying to enter promo codes. Something wrong with my browser or should I just give up and call?

and try for a aaa discount or look up discounts for your train name. for instance, i’m riding the coast starlight on friday. i entered the search, coast starlight discounts.
i’m saving a little.
